Phil is proud to lead Havencare and creates the foundation for all our people to do the right things in the right way. He believes that if you have an unwavering values-base of transparency, quality, and engagement – you will treat people like they make a difference, then they will!
Phil is calm, thoughtful, quick-witted. He is an inspiring communicator and great with difficult conversations, simplifying stuff that is unnecessarily complex, focusing on what matters. He creates spaces where people can thrive regardless of the ways in which they may think and operate differently from each other.
Phil also volunteers as Chairperson and Trustee for the Association for Real Change (ARC), a UK-wide Charity working with people, providers, and policy makers to achieve real change that puts people with a learning disabilities and other support needs at the centre of decision-making, and in the heart of their communities. ARC UK works across Northern Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Director of Havencare Support
Angela joined Havencare in 2000 and has worked across both residential and supported living services. She has a strong passion for providing high quality support to the individuals that use Havencare’s services. Angela’s infectious positive attitude, motivates people through both turbulent times and more importantly times of change. She keeps an empathetic approach, with a clear focus of striving together to reach a shared focused goal. Angela is currently the CQC nominated individual for Havencare and deputises for the CEO in his absence.
Director of Business and Finance
Emma joined Havencare in the year 2000. She was appointed to set up a new payroll system as this function had been outsourced for many years and it was deemed an appropriate time to move it in house. Her role has evolved over time and now she is Havencare’s Director of Business and Finance.
Emma is a positive thinker, who takes a calm, logical and systematic approach to her work. She has a happy disposition and a can-do attitude. She’s never short of ideas and is happy to help anybody where she can.
Her dislikes are negativity, grumpiness and Mangos!
Lisa joined Havencare in 2016 having worked in HR for over 16 years and developed experience in a variety of people focused roles in the UK and overseas.
Her approachability and sense of humour enables her to easily engage with people and she enjoys exploring creative ways to encourage great people skills and management. She believes people strive to be their best and has genuine curiosity about what holds us back from realising our full potential.
She is passionate about people development and qualified as a Kinesiologist in 2015, reinforcing her interest in human behaviour and desire to create environments where everyone thrives.
Quality Development Manager
Having previously worked as a registered manager in supported living and residential care, Amanda joined Havencare in 2021 as our new Quality Development Manager. Amanda has a Level 5 qualification in Leadership in Health and Social Care as well as a Level 5 qualification in Coaching and Mentoring in Management. Amanda is inspired by the people we support and their staff teams and is passionate about improving and delivering excellent person-centered support.
In her spare time Amanda likes to walk and wild camp on Dartmoor with her partner, and spends lots of time with her grandchildren.
Lee is a CQC Registered Manager within the Supported Living Services in Plymouth, and has been with Havencare since 2003. During his time with Havencare, Lee has worked in many different roles, from Support Worker through to Practice Leader. Lee has spent time building knowledge of transitional support from Children’s and Young people services, through to Adult Services, and transitions between services, as well as compliance and legislation. Lee is very organised person who likes things in order or planned. Lee is a Registered Manager for Supported Living Services and strives for quality support provisions within services.
Stacie has been working within Supported Living Services since 2006. She completed her Level 5 Diploma in 2017 & is always learning new skills for her role. Stacie’s area of interest is transition of support from children to adult services & is extremely passionate about recognising people’s abilities, their dreams & being able to work alongside by teaching new skills to achieve their full potential. Stacie has a wealth of experience of working with learning disabilities, Acquired Brain Injury & Autism.
Stacie favours interactions with individuals and staff teams over the task lead activities, but has a methodical approach and loves a deadline!
Lucy joined us in November 2018 as the Practice Leader for Botchill House in Dawlish. Lucy has supported the people living at Botchill House to move into their own homes, and the transition of these services from Residential settings to Supported Living services. She worked for Havencare previously for 16 years! Lucy left the organisation ten years ago and has worked as a person centred planning trainer and co-ordinator before managing services for another organisation. She is passionate about providing person centred supportive environments to the people we support. She also enjoys watching staff develop and grow within their roles.
Liz’s career in care spans 32 years, with her joining the Havencare Team in 1989. Liz is the CQC Registered Manager for one of our residential services in Devon (Deanbrook) and has achieved the Managers and Leadership Award, Registered Managers Award, NVQ 4 in Care, NVQ 3 in Mental Health, Positive Behavioural Support Levels 1-3 and Assessor & Verifiers Award. Liz has a true passion for supporting people with complex needs and advocates that everyone has an equal right to live a full and happy life no matter what their disability.
Charley joined Havencare in January 2020 as a Registered Practice Leader. Charley has been working within social care since 2011 having successfully achieved a NVQ5 in Health and Social Care and graduating a Bachelors in Honours in Children, Welfare and Society in 2010. The degree she embarked upon enabled her to gain a good academic foundation of knowledge and skills that relate to social care. Charley is always developing her knowledge and skills and has a wealth of experience of working with learning disabilities and mental health. She has a passion to work with individuals who require positive changes to be made, in order to achieve full citizenship as unique individuals. Her desire is to provide and promote; motivation, self-esteem, confidence to achieve goals and empowerment to be the best one can be; whilst maintaining trust, confidence and an individual’s uniqueness.
This role has by far given her the greatest human reward.
Hilary joined Havencare in January 2021 continuing her 20 plus years of working in care settings (apart from a brief stint as a not very good bar maid in outback Australia).
Hilary has worked across a spectrum of care settings, predominantly in elderly care. Hilary started her career in care as a student studying Health and Social Care at Plymouth College before moving to Bristol to study Nursing. Hilary was almost 2 years into her nursing degree before realising her heart lay in Care Work and having the time and opportunity to make a daily difference to the people we support lives and since making that decision has not looked back.
Hilary means cheerful in Greek which she feels sums up her personality, cheerful with a positive outlook on life and always up for a laugh.
Kelly Floyd joined the Plymouth team at Havencare as a Practice Leader in January 2019 and has enjoyed meeting her team and watching them grow since then. She has also taken on the enabling services and has been involved in setting up a new service in Plymouth.
She has a been working with adults and children with learning disabilities, mental health and autism for 13 years and has a wealth of experience. Throughout her time in care Kelly has been a casual worker, senior and team leader and is now developing in her Practice Leader role.
She is known to be a bit crazy and has earned the nickname crazy Kel!
Nicolette joined Havencare in January 2022 as a Practice Leader. She has worked in Health and Social Care for 12 years. Over this time, she has worked in various areas ranging from palliative care, mental health, challenging behaviour and learning disabilities. Nicolette studied health and social care at London metropolitan university but decided after completing her first year that she wanted to move back to Plymouth and get back into work. She has a level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and an NVQ level 5 in Health and Social Care, Leadership and Management. She gets great fulfilment from this line of work and couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
This is Tim Lauder, the Practice Leader across our Cornwall Services. He joined Havencare as a support worker in November 2018 and has since worked his way through the Havencare Career Pathway. He has only been working formally in Adult Social Care since 2018 but he has gained a lot of experience of the sector working informally as a family carer for two family members with disabilities most of his adult life.
Outside of work Tim loves to spend time with his partner and family and often spends his time away from work cooking for friends and enjoying weekend breaks across the country. Three words to describe him would be compassionate, committed and smiley.
Bradley has worked in care settings since 2014 across a variety of roles with a diverse range of individuals. He believes every individual has the right to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Although many individuals may have mental or physical barriers, Bradley knows that with the correct support they can overcome obstacles to live their life the way they want to.
At university Bradley studied Product Design which has helped him immensely in his career as a Carer. Part of being a designer is to find solutions to everyday challenges and to think outside of the box, both of which are essential to being a support worker. As an Autistic himself, Bradley takes pride in his achievements and challenges social stigmas surrounding disability.
Carron joined Havencare in 2015, working in the social care sector for over 35 years she has supported a wide range of individuals with complex needs but has worked predominantly with L/D, autism, & behaviours that may challenge so she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as Practice Leader in the Cornwall Services.
Carron worked at Mind and gained invaluable experience in mental health, and also has over 10 years’ experience of supporting people with an Acquired Brain Injury, and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and life experience of the many challenges this invisible disability brings to daily living.
Carron is motivated by developing a good understanding of the different needs and challenges that each person has, thriving on the opportunity to support both the person and their staff team to think outside of the box and find creative solution's - Carron believes even the smallest changes when meaningful can greatly enhance a person’s quality of life.
Throughout her time with Havencare Carron has been a Support Worker, a Team Leader overseeing two services, and became a Practice leader in January 2019 - she oversees the services in the West Cornwall area and is currently setting up the newest Supported Lifestyles Service in Penzance.
Trainee Finance Manager
Vicky joined Havencare in January 2022 as a Finance Manager. Vicky has brought with her; an AAT level 4 qualification, which she has self-studied in her own spare time, 2 years of experience in an accounts position and a Diploma of Higher Education in Business and Finance, in which she also self-studied.
She is excited to work in her new role and cannot wait to see what the future for Havencare and herself holds. Vicky is very much a people person and loves working with her new team. She is passionate about everything she does, goal orientated and very motivated, with a positive attitude towards everything in life. In her spare time Vicky loves to spend time with her husband and children, either taking walks, family movie nights or going out to new places. She travels up and down the country quite often to take her children to compete in freestyle dance competitions. Vicky loves the journeys and atmosphere this brings, as well as watching the hard work and dedication of her girls show on the dancefloor, with the best part being watching the two girls get up and do what they love, smiling the whole way around the floor!
Sarah joined Havencare in April 2022 as a Part Time Housing Officer. She has previously worked for Citizens Advice and is using her knowledge to help our tenants with a variety of issues.
Sarah is an organiser with a can-do attitude, she likes to find solutions to problems by thinking outside the box. Sarah believes everyone should be treated with empathy and compassion to achieve their goals.
Sarah likes to spend her spare time with her family and friends, going to the cinema, out for meals and drinking gin!
Having previously worked as a one-to-one Teaching Assistant for children with additional needs and as an advisor at Citizens Advice, Suzy joined Havencare in April 2022 as a Housing Officer. Her special skills lie in budgeting, income maximisation and practical problem solving.
In her spare time Suzy enjoys going to the cinema with her family, baking, and spending time with friends. Now her children are getting older she hopes to be able to travel more, which may help with the Geography questions in the local pub quiz.
Leanne Bostock joined the Havencare team in January 2019 and is now part of Havencare’s
Business Support team. Leanne supports Havencare’s L&D coordination, administration and reporting and provides oversight and system support of Havencare’s rota systems.
Leanne is a fun, creative person. She is a qualified florist and likes to make silver jewellery in her spare time. Leanne has a brain full of weird and interesting facts, making her the perfect pub quiz companion!
Sophie is a passionate Business Manager with a desire to make a positive impact. Sophie joined the Havencare team in 2013 and leads on the processes and systems that support Recruitment as well as supporting the delivery of ICT in Havencare. She is a considerate, approachable and effective team player with a wide breadth of HR knowledge with the drive and determination to get things right.
When not working, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring new places (mostly cocktail bars and waffle houses) and avoiding cooking at all costs!
Mollie joined Havencare in May 2021 as a HR Officer. Mollie’s background is working within the hospitality industry and has always had a passion for working with people. Mollie enjoys working as part of a team and strives to be a strong support for her colleagues with all aspects of HR. In 2020 she invested in her CPD and completed a CIPD Level 3 to expand on her knowledge.
In her spare time, Mollie enjoys travelling, going to the Theatre, and taking her Pug Winston on long walks!
Olivia joined the team in 2018 as a Business Administration Apprentice where she was working towards a Level 2 Business Administration Diploma. Once completed, she joined The Business Support Team as a permanent Business Administrator. Olivia provides a range of administrative support across the organisation.
In her spare time Liv enjoys watching Netflix, going on long walks and spending time with her family and friends.
Shane has worked in the finance department since 2012 after graduating university with a degree in history. His role largely involves processing transactions through our computerised systems and he has a strong knowledge of working with these. As well as working with numbers he also appreciates the syntax of English. Shane is renowned for his prodigious appetite, limitless cynicism and banter as well as being the office Guru of Fun Fact Friday.
His alter ego, Shane Stark, has not been seen for a while as he continues to train to become a Sith, graduate Hogwarts and strike out from Minas Tirith with the Avengers and an army of Klingons to reclaim his rightful position as King in the North. If anybody understands every word in that sentence, he will be impressed.
Leena joined Havencare in July 2022 as the HR officer. Prior to joining Havencare, Leena has a background working within the Oil & Gas sector. Leena has a passion for HR & Recruitment related roles and is currently working towards completing her MA degree. Leena loves to learn and feels everyone is always learning, so be prepared to answer a lot of questions that could be thrown at you. Leena is loud, talkative, and funny and sees the humour side to everything.
In her free time Leena binge watches Netflix, loves to travel, try her hand at cooking, learning to play the violin and can ‘Catsit’ your cat anytime for free.
Front of House Assistant
After working as a Teaching Assistant for 11 years, Sonya decided that as her two girls were grown up, she did not need all the school holidays off (6 weeks off can be very boring when your husband and everyone else is at work). She decided to go back to Front of House work and after a few jobs, and 3 months as a Temp, she is still at Havencare and very happy to be working with the Havencare Team.
In her own time, she enjoys socialising and spending time with family and friends.
Destiny joined the team in 2022 as a Finance Apprentice. She was drawn to the job because of all the benefits that come out of helping those in need and believes the job is rewarding. She is a very confident outgoing person who is kind and tends to put others before herself this is also one of many reasons why she chose to work at Havencare.
She also wishes that with the help of the organisation, those in need really benefit from Havencare's services and helps them to recognise their own worth. Destiny will continue to promote a positive attitude as well as her confidence within work.
