Havencare Highly Commended at the Great British Care Awards

We are thrilled to share that Havencare Homes and Support was Highly Commended at the Great British Care Awards on 13 November, in the Housing with Care Award category.

At the prestigious event in Bristol’s Ashton Gate, Havencare’s person-led approach to support was recognised in front of care providers, professionals, and associates from across the region.

The story behind the nomination

Havencare’s Housing with Care commendation follows the nomination received earlier in the year which recognised the incredible work of M’s team.

Over the past three years, M’s team have stood alongside an individual with highly complex behavioural and communication needs, supporting them to move from long-term hospitalisation and daily restraint into their own home, a home where they now live happily and with dignity. Through consistent, person-led support, the team created stability, reduced distress, and helped the individual build active connections within their community.

The impact has been life-changing. Someone who once lived in a highly restrictive environment now enjoys activities they love, builds positive relationships, and experiences genuine safety and belonging.

The Housing with Care nomination described a team who “know him better than anyone else,” words echoed by their family who thanked the team for “showing care, humour, and creativity every day.”

Speaking after the awards ceremony Lisa Runnalls, Area Manager, said:

“Attending the Great British Care Awards and seeing our team recognised with this commendation was an incredible moment. It was such a great evening and I am so proud of my team. They fully deserve this recognition. They all work so hard to deliver exceptional support.”

It was wonderful to celebrate success alongside organisations across the Southwest who make a real difference every day, including Southern Healthcare Specialists, winners of this year’s Housing with Care Award. The motivating night truly highlighted the shared purpose across our sector — supporting people to live with choice, dignity, and connection.
