We’re proud to share that Havencare Homes and Support has been nominated as a Finalist in the Great British Care Awards South West for the Housing with Care Award!

This nomination recognises our dedicated teams who deliver exceptional, person-centred support that helps the people we support live with confidence, purpose, and independence.

Team CAMM: Building a Home with Heart

One of the many teams delivering this work is Team CAMM, whose care and commitment behind the scenes have supported M to move from a life of daily restraint in hospital to one of independence, joy, and fun in their own home.

Lisa, Area Manager, tells us more:

“Over the past three years, Team CAMM, (Oliver, Adam, Jeremy and Amy) have supported an individual with highly complex behavioural and communication needs to move from long-term hospitalisation into a home of their own, where they now live safely, meaningfully, and with dignity.

Building trust through consistent, empowering support, the team has transformed this person’s life. Their highly specialised, person-led approach replaced restraint with calm, stability, and understanding.

Today, the person we support not only lives in the community but actively connects with others and continues to grow in confidence and independence.”

Team CAMM shows us what housing with care can truly achieve: empowered individuals living the life they choose.

Transformation Through Care

Through their ongoing commitment to learning, teamwork, and truly personalised support, Team CAMM has helped create lasting change. The person they support has developed greater independence, built meaningful connections, and found the security of a real home.

This transformation reflects Havencare’s wider mission: to empower people with learning disabilities, autism, and brain injuries to live fulfilling lives in homes that truly work for them.

It is a powerful reminder of what happens when we see people, not problems, and when we never give up on anyone.

Family Reflections

The family of the person supported by Team CAMM shared this heartfelt message:

“M’s carers, his buddies, have supported him through some challenging times, showing care, humour, and creativity every day. From providing structure and comfort to making him laugh with sketches, music, and funny voices, they bring his world to life. They know him better than anyone, and we offer the biggest thank you.”

Wish Us Luck at the Great British Care Awards!

As we head to Bristol this Thursday as a Great British Care Awards Finalist, we do so with immense pride in our teams and the people we support.

Whatever the outcome, we’re proud of every person who brings ‘housing with care’ to life each day at Havencare.
