‘Making a difference is at our core. Every Board Meeting starts with “why we are here”, a presentation of pictures and stories that brings our people into sharp focus.’ Stephen Reynolds, Chair of the Board of Trustees

Behind every decision, policy, and plan at Havencare, sits our Trustees, a group of people quietly giving their time, experience, and insight to make Havencare stronger.

Celebrating Our Trustees

This week, we join organisations across the UK in celebrating Trustees’ Week. An opportunity to recognise the nearly one million Trustees who guide charities like ours with wisdom, compassion, and care.

Guiding with heart

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) describes Trustees as the “guardians of purpose.” They hold charities accountable, safeguard resources, and help translate vision into real-world impact.

At Havencare, this means our Trustees ensure everything we do – from supporting people to employing staff – stays true to our values. They help balance ambition with care and innovation with stability, always keeping our people at the heart of it all.

Coming from a wide range of professional backgrounds, our Trustees bring a rich mix of perspectives which help to steer our charity.  Together, they ask important questions and ensure that every pound, project, and partnership aligns with our mission.

What inspires our Trustees

We caught up with our Trustees to find out what inspired them to become part of Havencare’s story. Here’s what they told us:

“I joined the Board of Havencare in 2007 and became Chair in 2014. As a business manager, working for Barclays, I felt I could bring a sense of commerciality to the Charity that would help it to endure and navigate the ever changing Social Care arena. Now, 18 years later, as Chair of Havencare Homes and Support, I am very proud to have helped it to grow into a busy and successful organisation supporting those who with learning disabilities, autism and brain injuries. ”

Stephen Reynolds, Chair of the Board of Trustees

A thank-you from all of us

To our Trustees – Thank you!

For every evening meeting, early morning call and each moment in between, we are deeply grateful.

Your guidance helps Havencare grow stronger and more resilient, enabling us to do what matters most: supporting people to build communities and confidence, and live the life they choose.
