25 Years at Havencare Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Forward with Hope

Today I’m reflecting on something very close to my heart, my 25-year journey with Havencare Homes and Support Ltd.

When I first stepped through Havencare’s doors all those years ago, I never imagined just how much it would shape my life. I was drawn in by the values at the heart of Havencare, kindness, dignity, and respect, but it’s the people who have made me stay for a quarter of a century (!)

Over the years, I’ve met so many incredible individuals; people we support, families, colleagues, and friends, and each has left a mark on me. Some moments are big and unforgettable: helping someone move into their very first home, celebrating milestones they once thought impossible, or watching someone grow in confidence and independence. But honestly, it’s often the small, everyday moments that stay with me the most, a shared laugh over a cup of tea, a smile of pride after achieving something new, or the warmth of genuine connection.

Naturally, a lot changes over 25 years. Havencare has grown, adapted, and evolved and so have I. Change can sometimes feel daunting, but I’ve come to see it as a sign of strength. Each new chapter brings opportunities to learn, to improve, and to keep our focus firmly on what matters most: supporting people to live the lives they choose.

For me, working in finance has never just been about spreadsheets or budgets, it’s about people. Every decision we make, every plan we put in place, ultimately comes back to making sure someone has a safe home, the right support, or the chance to live more independently. I take real pride in knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps make those moments possible.

As I look to the future, I feel excited for what lies ahead. Havencare has always been built on strong values and a shared passion, and I believe those qualities will carry us forward. With dedicated teams, fresh ideas, and the same unwavering commitment to people at the centre of all we do, I know Havencare’s story is only just beginning.

To everyone I’ve worked with, learned from, and laughed with over the years; thank you. And to the people we support, thank you for trusting me to walk alongside you on your journeys.

Here’s to the last 25 years, and to an even brighter future together.
