Job Description

Havencare Homes and Support Limited is a forward-thinking charity that supports people with learning disabilities and autism.  At Havencare we don’t think that experience is everything, first and foremost we are looking for outstanding people with outstanding values that align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We have a great opportunity for someone who has a thirst to learn about autism and non-verbal communication skills to join our existing team supporting two autistic gentlemen, who recently moved into their new home.  If you are enthusiastic and resourceful and want to play an important role for change and liberation, then this role could be for you.

To help decide if this opportunity is right for you, here’s some more information about the role and the two individuals you would be supporting …

Gentleman 1 is an autistic man in his early 30s, who enjoys nothing more than spending time relaxing in the garden, listening and taking in all the interesting sounds that nature can offer.  He also enjoys marine life and visiting aquariums; getting lost in watching a tranquil pond or lake or sitting in a café and watching the world go by.  If you share similar interests to this gentleman and have an interest in sensory profiling, then this could be the role for you.

Gentleman 2 is an autistic man in his mid-50s who is incredibly active and loves nothing more than being out in the fresh air, by the sea and spending time with his loving and devoted family. He also enjoys swimming and watersports and a good fish and chip supper.  If you are a keen gardener who loves nothing more than planting and landscaping and are partial to a good singsong and dancing then you share similar interests to this gentleman, and this could be the role for you.

During the day one of these gentlemen are supported by 2 members of staff when accessing the community to ensure they can remain safe and get the best and most meaningful experience from their days.

During the night you will find yourself giving reassurance to one of these gentlemen, if sleep is disturbed. The other gentleman may want support to choose snacks, he will also look to fulfill his sensory needs and encouragement to ‘chill’ to get the best from his sleep routines. There will also be an expectation to keep on top of cleaning tasks where possible.

If you share the same passion and interest as these 2 amazing gentlemen, then this opportunity enables you to combine your own interests with your work, and we’d love to hear from you.
