Job Description

Havencare Homes and Support Limited is a forward-thinking charity that supports people with learning disabilities and autism.

The successful applicant will be working 24 hours per week and must be able to work weekends, evening and weekdays with sleep-ins.

At Havencare we don’t think that experience is everything, first and foremost we are looking for outstanding people with outstanding values that align with Havencare’s values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We are currently seeking a Support Worker for The Orchard, an extra care housing project, supporting 7 individuals living in their own flats who receive 1:1 support at different times of the day, all with access to our shared communal area.

We are looking to recruit individuals who can engage with a range of different personalities and can adapt to the different requirements of the role – enabling individuals to participate in a range of activities in the community, promoting independence in the home, providing personal care and moving and handling people as required. We are looking for individuals who are interested in the function of (reason for) distressed behaviors and who will employ the principles of positive behavioral support.

Every day is different at The Orchard, and we are keen to recruit someone who is flexible and will take a person centred approach – one day you may find yourself supporting one of our gentlemen to attend a basketball game, or our resident DJ to attend the radio station, the next you may find yourself supporting one of our tenants to care for our budgie Bluey.

We are looking for motivators, who can provide ‘just enough support’ to promote greater independence in the people we support, enabling them to achieve their individual outcomes (goals) and ultimately to live the lives they wish to lead.

In return we will provide

– Quality training to ensure you have all the skills you require to succeed
– Continual training and development opportunities to maintain and enhance your skills and knowledge
– Free 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing
– Financial incentive for our Refer a Friend Scheme
– Vouchers at Christmas, your work anniversary, and your birthday
– Paid DBS

Closing date: The closing date for this vacancy is the 12th June 2023. Applications will be considered as and when received.

If your application is successful, any offer of employment will be subject to:

A satisfactory enhanced DBS check and subsequent registration for the DBS update service
2 acceptable / satisfactory references
Evidence of eligibility / right to work in the UK
