Practice Leader

Hourly Rate: £13.20 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Goosewell, Egg Buckland, Plymouth

Essential: Female-only*

Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity.  We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

An understanding of positive behaviour support (PBS) and leading PBS in practice would be an advantage, although not essential because we can develop these skills and experience with the right person who has the attitude and aptitude to learn and deliver at this level.

About the Role

You will work on-shift, leading your team in outstanding practice. You will lead the principles of “nothing about me without me”, ensuring the supported person’s voice (behaviours, expressions, actions, words) is heard, and they are leading their support planning, delivery, and review.

Some of your duties will include:

  • engagement in person-centred thinking, evolving the services around the people being supported.
  • creating a capable environment where the person being supported, and their team, can thrive and have choices and opportunities that enable people to reach their potential and direct their own lives.
  • maintaining every person’s right to privacy, self-determination, choice, dignity, and respect
  • facilitating positive risk taking with an outcomes-focused (personal goals) approach
  • continuous self-directed personal development in the latest best-practice thinking and application and cascading your learning to your teams.
  • interviewing, inducting, managing, and engaging your team with compassionate leadership.
  • ensure training and policies and procedures are applied in practice by you and your team.
  • undertaking regular quality supervisions, appraisals, debriefs, team meetings and informal performance conversations with compassionate radical candor.
  • manage the Rota, with person-matched creative scheduling, arranging cover for absences, ensuring clocking, and timesheets are accurate for pay.

About Goosewell:

We support two lovely ladies who live in their own bungalow in Eggbuckland. Both ladies are in their 60s and enjoy a slower paced life. They like to spend their days going out for coffee and cake or shopping with their support workers. We are looking for staff to be part of their team, and who will enable them to widen their community access and to support them in their day-to-day activities both within the home and out in the local area.

About You:

  • A patient and calm-natured person.
  • Comfortable to sit quietly and use compassionate and considerate techniques to engage them in activities.
  • Passion to live-life and lead more than a safe existence.
  • Naturally curious about neurodiverse human behaviour
  • Non-judgemental and focuses more on why something happened opposed to what happened.
  • A confident leader from the front, back and centre of their team, depending on circumstances.
  • Able to investigate, hear all perspectives, analyse information, and develop and adapt ways of working.
  • Thrive on working closely with family, wider networks, and your colleagues, collaborating and coproducing with the expertise of others to enable a holistic, truly person-led service.

About the usual working pattern:
