About the Role:

This role is diverse and needs someone who can provide support and care to various people throughout their working day.  Each person has their own flat and receives a level of 1:1 support delivery at different times of the day and have access to a shared support hub. 

The hub is a unique dimension to Supported Living and you will be supporting individuals as a point of contact, with their planned activities and personal care requirements, as well as moving & handling people and providing distress behaviour support (when required).  The role would involve supporting aspects of day-to-day living, personal care and accessing the community. Support with planning meals, medication administration and most importantly developing relationships with family and peers.

We are looking for people who can engage with different personalities and bring energy, adaptability, and commitment to a support role where every day is different.  Yesterday you may have been watching a show at the Theatre in Plymouth.  Today you may be supporting with daily living skills and shopping, and tomorrow, you may find yourself in Charlestown drinking coffee.​  There is the opportunity to work directly with people depending on your interest and skills.

We also look at a combination of 1:1 support hours with individuals with complex needs and there will be times when you will be part of our core background support and delivering 2:1 support for specific tasks with individuals.  You will need to be comfortable with supporting with personal care.

‘C’ is a young and vivacious young lady who loves laughs and a practical joke, she is becoming more and more independent, and her goal is to live completely independently. Like most people “C’s” age she is social media enthused and loves all things girly.

‘C’ likes karate, basketball, Star Wars and gaming, someone active and with similar interests would really support this young man to flourish, “C” can struggle to navigate social relationships and needs someone to support him to navigate and understand these. 

‘S’ is a young lady who requires sensitive and understanding emotional support whose past trauma can impact her ability to form positive and healthy relationships, “S” is in fulltime education at college and is learning essential life skills which will need to be continued by her team. Experience with Trauma Informed approaches is desirable but committing to understanding her experience of past trauma is essential. 

‘E’ oozes artistic creativity and spends his day creating art and music, “E” is a young autistic man who can struggle to manage his anxieties and needs confident and empathic support to keep him on baseline and engaged in his day.

“M” loves rock music, getting tattooed and often having a new additional of “metal” in the means of a piercing, “M” loves to cook so someone with a passion for home cooking would work well with “M”.

About the usual working pattern:

This will post requires weekday, weekend, morning, afternoons and evenings. ​Support delivery to begin at 7am through to 10pm. There is the opportunity to work shorter or longer days.
We are also looking for people to work from 10pm through to 7am as a waking night.
We are open to part-time or full-time team members.
We are looking for people to workday shifts and night shifts.
We facilitate a 2-week rolling pattern for continuity of delivery.
We also welcome casual staff that are unable to commit to a rolling pattern but would like to pick up shifts on an ad hoc basis.
