Job Description

Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

An understanding of positive behaviour support (PBS) and leading PBS in practice would be an advantage, although not essential because we can develop these skills and experience with the right person who has the attitude and aptitude to learn and deliver at this level.

About the Role

You will work on-shift and allocated off rota time to support service delivery, leading your team in outstanding practice. You will lead the principles of “nothing about me without me”, ensuring the supported person’s voice (behaviours, expressions, actions, words) is heard, and they are leading their support planning, delivery, and review.

We have been working closely with Matt’s family, who are local to Brixham, to help Matt adapt to his new environment, here are some words from Matt’s family:

“We would like Matt’s support team to learn as much about Matt from what we have shared that includes observations from existing carers of Matt interacting with those around him; knowledge of Matt’s, behaviors (anxious and quiet moments) and interests which are vital to understand for all staying in his home. Matt has trouble understanding the do’s and don’ts of life, but he does have a high level of intelligence that includes reading, writing, excellent recall, operating a laptop, iPad, games, and he also enjoys pen and paper hangman. Patience and flexibility with Matt are important and there are numerous interests he finds enjoyment in that includes: music, dance, stories, film scenes – called up from the internet – films and comedy series.’’
