Meet the team...
Phil is responsible for Havencare’s vision, culture and making good decisions. First rule of leadership: everything is his fault! Phil is a good listener (especially to the sound of his own voice)! He is approachable, down to earth and can mix with anyone. People say Phil is funny, or just annoying! He is passionate about our people and wants to lead Havencare to be outstanding for everyone. As CEO (curious, eccentric, opinionated), would Phil rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. He wants people to be afraid of how much they love him! (The Office).
Business and Finance Executive
Numbers are Lees’ thing… qualified as an Accountant Lee spent sixteen years in the profession before venturing out into the business world. He took up position as Finance Director with an energy consultancy firm that during his time there grew from a fledging business to one that had operations in Australia, Ireland, Gibraltar and across the whole of the UK. Lee has been with Havencare for seven years and is responsible for ensuring our services are delivered within the ever-increasing budget constraints but without jeopardising quality. Lee also oversees the operations of Brook Housing Limited, a charity that provides specialist housing solutions for those with a learning disability.
Angela joined Havencare in 2000 and has worked across both residential and supported living services. She has a strong passion for providing high quality support to the individuals that use Havencare’s services. Angela’s infectious positive attitude, motivates people through both turbulent times and more importantly times of change. She keeps an empathetic approach, with a clear focus of striving together to reach a shared focused goal. Angela is currently the CQC registered manager for supported living provision across Cornwall, Plymouth and Devon, the CQC nominated individual for Havencare, Prevent and safeguarding lead.
Lisa joined Havencare in 2016 having worked in HR for 12+ years and developed experience in a variety of people focused roles in the UK and overseas.
Her approachability and sense of humour enables her to easily engage with people and she enjoys exploring creative ways to encourage great people skills and management. She believes people strive to be their best and has genuine curiosity about what holds us back from realising our full potential.
She is passionate about people development and qualified as a Kinesiologist, reinforcing her interest in human behaviour and desire to create environments where everyone thrives.
Business and Finance Manager
Emma joined Havencare in the year 2000. She was appointed to set up a new payroll system as this function had been outsourced for many years and it was deemed an appropriate time to move it in house. Her role has evolved over time and now she is Havencare’s Business and Finance Manager.
Emma is a positive thinker, who takes a calm, logical and systematic approach to her work. She has a happy disposition and a can-do attitude. She’s never short of ideas and is happy to help anybody where she can.
Her dislikes are negativity, grumpiness and Mangos!
Claire is our support planning and outcomes guru (iPlanit) and has 16 years' experience working with Autism & behaviour which can challenge. She supports employees to develop their knowledge and understanding of policies to enable them to be translated into practice. Claire is committed and proud to take the lead in reviewing our work practice to support our ongoing achievements for Quality Accreditations (CHAS and PQASSO). She is passionate about supporting teams to maintain and improve quality to achieve positive outcomes for all those we support and work towards Outstanding ratings.
Outside of work Claire is trying to train her lively puppy!
Lee is a Practice Leader within the Supported Living Services in Plymouth, and has been with Havencare since 2003. During his time with Havencare, Lee has worked in many different roles, from Support Worker through to Practice Leader. Lee has spent time building knowledge of transitional support from Children’s and Young people services, through to Adult Services, and transitions between services, as well as compliance and legislation. Lee is very organised person who likes things in order or planned. Lee is a Registered Manager for Supported Living Services and strives for quality support provisions within services.
Having previously worked across an array of roles within Social Care, Thomas is currently a Practice Leader within Havencare.
Initially starting his career within the educational sector Thomas began volunteering for mental health charities. This was when he found his passion and drive. Firstly, Thomas started as an outreach support worker and worked his way up to a team leader and then a manager.
Thomas' previous experience of completing his Psychology degree, in addition to Social Care management courses has prepared him for this responsibility. He now specialises in the area of behaviours that challenge services.
Kelly is a Practice Leader within Havencare currently overseeing 9 services and has worked within the learning disability sector for over 18 years. Kelly worked in a residential setting for a number of years and also gained experience working for agencies until she chose the route that she wanted to progress with.
Kelly has worked across all services, from challenging to mild learning disabilities, and is currently undertaking Positive Behaviour Management training to become an instructor within Havencare.
Laura is a member of our Practice Leadership team, based in Plymouth. She chose Adult Social Care as her career after leaving school at 18, and has been employed within Havencare ever since. During her time here Laura has developed a keen interest in the principles and practices of Personalisation and Active Support and has also recently completed her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. Laura is excited to continue implementing active support for the People we Support and working with staff teams to ensure the best possible support and outcomes for all.
Stacie has been working within Supported Living Services since 2006. She completed her Level 5 Diploma in 2017 & is always learning new skills for her role. Stacie’s area of interest is transition of support from children to adult services & is extremely passionate about recognising people’s abilities, their dreams & being able to work alongside by teaching new skills to achieve their full potential. Stacie has a wealth of experience of working with learning disabilities, Acquired Brain Injury & Autism.
Stacie can often be left with a long to do list, favouring interactions with individuals and staff teams over the task lead activities to her role.
Aaron has been working in the care industry since 2008. Aaron has only just recently moved to Havencare from another provider in search of a fresh challenge and is proving to be a natural leader who works with an open, honest and structured approach. Aaron has a real passion for people and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live the life they want to live and to the fullest.
Liz’s career in care spans 32 years, with her joining the Havencare Team in 1989. Liz is the Registered Practice Leader for two of the residential services (Deanbrook and Botchill House) and has achieved the Managers and Leadership Award, Registered Managers Award, NVQ 4 in Care, NVQ 3 in Mental Health, Positive Behavioural Support Levels 1-3 and Assessor & Verifiers Award. Liz has a true passion for supporting people with complex needs and advocates that everyone has an equal right to live a full and happy life no matter what their disability.
Adelle started her career in Learning Disabilities nursing many moons ago having taken advice that she ‘follow her dreams’ – this being 5ft 10ins, blue eyes with an Irish lilt! Having abandoned planning in favour of kismet, Adelle later moved to Devon where she was fortunate in finding new opportunities and challenges within a wide range of community services, before joining Havencare in 2009.
Adelle enjoys meeting new people and is currently working as Registered Manager within a small residential home in Paignton, where she is keen to see people develop their passions and interests.
Sophie is a HR Assistant and connoisseur of waffles, not necessarily in that order. Sophie started as a temp in 2012, officially joining the team the year after. She has been the go-to person for anything administration and is now pursuing her interest in HR. Sophie’s mission is to see Havencare fully recruited with engaged staff armed with the skills they need. Sophie plays a key role in events management and has provided support to some exciting projects such as the new website.
Sophie has recently become a mum to a beautiful girl and now has to share her waffles…
Business and Finance Administrator
Mara provides a wide range of administration support across the organisation. She began working for Havencare in 2014 as an apprentice and stayed with us after completing her qualification. She is a core member of the Business Support team and provides the sometimes “behind the scenes” work that is not always seen but makes a real difference. Mara uses her experience to mentor our apprentices and she also has a great ability to understand and implement new systems and technology. She also helps ensure events and activities at Head Office are fun and engaging.
Business and Finance Administrator
Shane is a unique member of the Havencare team, in role and personality. His role is to process financial and payroll information through our computerised systems. He came to Havencare after completing a history degree and has been here ever since. He is renowned for his attention to detail, cynical nature and a dry and cutting sense of humour. His motto is that ‘There is Always a Way to Win’.
Business and Finance Apprentice
Emily joined Havencare in July 2017 as our Business and Finance Apprentice. She chose an apprenticeship to give her the opportunity to experience a working environment as well as gain a qualification in administration. Emily works on reception acting as first point of contact for those calling and visiting Head Office. She provides a friendly and supportive service, a wide range of administrative tasks and is responsible for managing our meeting rooms. Emily is a keen Plymouth Argyle fan and enjoys watching their home games and talking about her favourite player!
Business Administration Apprentice
Olivia joined the team in 2018 as a Business Administration Apprentice. She will be working alongside Emily providing customer service to internal and external visitors face-to-face, over the telephone and via email. Olivia’s role is to support the organisation with all administrative tasks whilst working towards a Level 2 Business Administration Diploma. Olivia has previously undertaken volunteering for a charity due to her fondness for cats. She has a Calico cat named Lulu.
